Sr. Pastor Arnette Dotson Sr.
In 1979 Arnette Dotson Sr. embarked upon the odyssey of a lifetime and accepted his calling into ministry. It was then that he preached his first sermon and received his ordination and licensing at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Scott, Arkansas. After Reverend Dotson's ordination, God would then put him in the field in preparation for his ultimate purpose. Poised and ready to accept the instructions from God, he accepted the call as Senior Pastor of the Bailey Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Scott, Arkansas, where he would serve for five years.
God would later call him to another level in ministry and appoint him as Senior Pastor of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Rixey, Arkansas. Through God's anointing, Pastor Dotson’s invigorating messages of “real talk” began to transform the lives of all who heard his message and the ministry continued to grow. Here, he would lead the church through an expansion and renovation project that the area had never seen, however, God was still requiring more from him.
Mandated by God to begin anew, he birthed New Creation Missionary Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas in 1996. This would be the first start-up church for Pastor Dotson. Through God’s favor and awesome power, New Creation would go from small beginnings to meeting the needs of the community by becoming one of only a few churches providing a Caring Center and Food Pantry in the metropolitan area.
In 2007 Reverend Dotson Sr. would then begin a new church, Rising Star Baptist Church in Sherwood, Arkansas. Here Reverend Dotson Sr. has continued his same approach in reaching the masses by teaching biblical principles in a fashion all can understand, better known as his "real talk". Dotson, is able to connect with individuals from all walks of life and lead them to Christ. He's coined the saying "it ain't much to me," thereby impressing upon others that it is through God's grace that we are all saved and not by our own might.
At Rising Star, Reverend Dotson continues to grow the ministries of God by employing several new ministries and outreach programs to further members commitment to God, the body of Christ and ultimately to wins souls to Christ.
Devoting his life for the cause of the Kingdom has caused Reverend Dotson to be seen as a Pastor’s Pastor by mentoring pastors on this journey to spread the “Good News” and advance the Kingdom of God. His passion to spread the gospel would lead to serving as the African Americans Ministries Coordinator and Church Planter for the Southern Baptist North Pulaski Baptist Association. Pastor Dotson has served as Dean and Instructor for the Tri-Area Ministries Workshop of the General Missionary Baptist Convention of Arkansas; board member of the Cooperative Ministries of the Southern Baptist Convention of Arkansas; the moderator for the Argenta District Association; and President of the State Sunday School and Baptist Training Union Congress of the General Missionary State Convention of Arkansas.
Reverend Dotson Sr. holds a Master’s Degree in Ecclesiastical Studies from Jackson Theological Seminary. He is happily married for forty-one years to the love of his life and partner in ministry, Lydia Dotson. Together they have three God-fearing children, Natasha, Kernesha and Arnette Jr,; and two adorable granddaughters, Rachel and Maddison. As Pastor Dotson continues to fulfill God’s purpose for his life, he remains humbled by God’s appointment and service to His people.
